Trail Riding

Where do I ride?

Newcastle (Australia) is home to the amazing Glenrock reserve, a large national park with well maintained and signed trails for mainly cross-country with some downhill riding. I have joined the Glenrock Trail Alliance online forum and hope to meet up with some other newby riders soon. Near to Newcastle are also several other large reserves including Awaba, Ourimbah, Killingowrth (Mt Sugarloaf) and many areas of the blue mountains. You can expect, as this blog progresses, to have posts regarding new areas and comparisons of different rides.

How ‘good’ am I?

Uhhhh, not good is the short answer. I have not been riding long. In fact I have probably only been (at the time of writing) only 2 or 3 times and only to Glenrock at this stage and have only even been out riding on the road or on tracks for a few years.

It has been enough. I have already become addicted.

What I love about riding

The amazing vistas, bushland, exhilaration of unexpected drops and heart pumping descents. Whizzing through streams, narrow bridges, tight turns and surprising open spaces….I can’t wait to get better, fitter and get my new trail bike (I have been riding on a pretty crappy bottom of the range bike which has issues changing more than one gear). I have my eye on a Giant at the moment…..
